Hello,

I got a new Router/Modem from my ISP and it doesn't recognize my 50ft cat6 cable being plugged into it. I checked the cable and it is fine. The port on my computer and the port on the router/modem both work with a shorter cable (This one was a regular old 5ft yellow ethernet cable).

I suspect maybe the router/modem doesn't provide enough power to send a signal through a 50ft cable. I'm probably wrong though.

How can I fix this problem? I am clueless :(

Thanks for the help in advance!

That shouldn't be a problem, since new motherboards have gigabit ports and they auto-crossover. But it is worth investigating. Look at the color of the wires inside the clear plastic RJ45 connectors at the end of the yellow cable. Are both ends in the same order or are the colors in different order? The 50ft cable should have the colors in the same order at each end.
