Try as I might, my computer cannot handle movie processing in windows movie maker. Tried all the usual up to putting a huge room fa in front of open PC case, but no matter what, windows movie maker blasts my CPU up beyond 70*C and my PC shuts down every time.

Any good software to slow down the process execution in the CPU to prevent this from happening?

Thanks all.

Your PC should not overheat during any kind of task. A bandaid in the mean time would be to go to Windows Power Profiles and change your maximum processor state to a number less than 100%, but you really should open up your case and clean it.

Thanks, i'll try that....already opened up, cleaned out down to the actual CPU, reapplied heat sink paste....seems not to help...As mentioned, even have a big room fan blowing ambient AC air right into open case, but still, no dice. Movie Maker is the only software that causes the overheat. For what it's worth, it's an AMD chip, I've heard they aren't great heat performers...

In the meantime throttling back the power works, thanks!
