Can I use External GPU in my Laptop?

I have an Asus x550c laptop with the following specs: i5-3337U, GT720M 2gb, 8gb ram. I want to know if I could use a Video Card Dock Mini PCI-E (exp dgc) thing with it. By looking that up you see these external pci-e ports that can plug into a mini pci-e in laptops. I have checked and there is one in my computer currently being used by my wifi card (which works btw).

Basically there are lots of versions of this thing and I want to know if I could use it in my laptop to enhance performance, as 30fps on medium settings is pretty annoying in Warframe.

Also, youtube videos show people plugging in graphics cards that need power from a psu, but don't have one. I want to know if by using a graphics card that only needs the power given by the pci-e port I could just plug in the dc power plug and have it all up and running. I believe cards like gtx 750 ti don't need external power, so I want to know if it would work with my setup.

If anyone know if it would work or not, please tell me, as I want to get one, but don't want to waste my money on something that won't even work. I'm only 14 and don't have a job, so $50AUD is a lot of money to me XD

Thanks.

There is a difference between a laptop and "a PC".
A 3 year old PC (desktop) can be easily upgraded. A 3 year old laptop, not.

The whole eGPU thing will be way more than $50AUD.

Thunderbolt is used in the razer core and all that, but not in the EXP GDC, which uses the mini pci port in laptops typically used for wifi cards, so It doesn't matter if there is or isn't a thunderbolt port

By that do you mean the mini pci port is some old version or something that makes it slow enough to barely even help in terms of power?

That "PCI" port is too slow to support the functionality and bandwidth requirements of a rational graphics card.

Can you connect it? Probably.
And $300+ later, that laptop will be no better performing than it is now. Possibly even worse.

Is it just my pc? Because there is a lot of people talking about using old computers and making them super powerful, I thought that mine would work, considering I've had it for like 3 years.
