here's the specs i am currently running

windows 10
intel I7 4790k
2x msi gtx 1080 gaming sli (with the hb sli bridge)
16gb ddr3
1x 250gb samsung evo ssd
1x 1tb wd black hdd
asus z97 hero mobo
3x asus pg279q displays

I am currently really confused about the fps i am getting
whenever I enable the nvidia surround and play lets say the witcher 3 on all three 1440p displays
with all my settings set to ultra I am only seeing 30-32fps. gta 5 with all three displays I am barley breaking 20-25fps with lots of tearing the game will even crash.

I have thought about reinstalling my OS and go back to windows 7 to see if this would clear up my issue but would like to avoid that if i can. any tips on how to improve my fps. also I do have all three displays plugged into a single card, would taking one or even two of the displays off of one card and putting them on the secondary card help with the fps issue?

I would bet that many games are not optimized to run in NVIDIA Surround View at higher than 4K (total).

I'm guessing that TW3 is rendering in 4K and then it's up to the NVIDIA feature to scale it past that.

Either way, I think of it like this:

Looking at a quick benchmark, it looks like 1080 SLI lose about ~50-60fps going from 2560x1440 to 4K in ultra settings (from about 135 avg to 80). I'm doing shoddy math in my head, but I think that's adding 25% more pixels when you make that jump.

Adding 35% more pixels (as someone mentioned below), let's just safely assume you'll lose the roughly the same amount of pixels - that takes right down to the frames you're getting...

Note - all of my estimates we're on side of favoring your experience.

You either need to remove a screen or turn down the settings.

heh what i am taking from this is either run the games from a single 1440p display or lower the settings if i run it on all three displays (its so pretty though on ultra lol)
