AMD APU shares system memory with the CPU. The iGPU is not as powerful as a dedicated card.
iGPU will always be inferior to a dedicated card. dedicated cards use much faster RAM than system memory (DDR3/4 vs GDDR5)
a dedicated card will have more hardware to throw at the problem.
if you are only playing hearts and chess then an iGPU/APU is the choice for you.

^ This. An APU is a CPU and GPU together on one chip, so compromises are made in both, and they have to share RAM. A discrete GPU is on its own card and can be much faster.
