hey guys I will be doing a gaming pc build and everyone tells that I need to wear an antistatic wrist band when I'm working with components such as cpu,etc.... will I really be needing one? I'm worried cuz I'm making a big investment and this is my first build also...and is there any way to build without the need of one ? Thank you

Solution
Either way will work, the wrist band does the same as touching the case frequently allowing any potential static to discharge to the case frame. If you get a wristband you only need one. It's nothing more than a strap with a piece of metal that touches your skin, connects via a cord and uses a metal clamp to attach to some point on the case. It basically 'touches the case' for you.

As Zerk2012 pointed out, try to avoid building on carpet. Try to hold components like the cpu by the edges rather than pinching it between your fingers rubbing your fingers all over the contacts/pins. That advise has multiple reasons, keeps from static shocking the contacts, keeps from bending pins or getting natural oils from your fingers on the contacts...

in order asked
depends on your experience. I suggest using one for safety for first timers, they are cheap and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Yes. plug in the power supply while it is in the case. plugging it in (to a grounded outlet) will ground the chassis, if you touch bare metal on the chassis or an unpainted screw attaching the PSU to the chassis, you will ground yourself. Touch the bare metal regularly after moving your feet. after grounding you can touch the parts in relative safety. I would/do ground myself every minute or so, it became a habit that stuck.

To go a bit more detailed.
Have you ever been in socks on carpet and then touched a metal object like a door nob and got shocked this is static electricity.
If you have rubber soles on your shoes like sneakers and touch the case (metal part before you start the build) their no need to have the power supply installed you pretty much have a 0% chance to do anything that will harm the PC. (even if your on carpet)
I guess people say you need one to sell that 6 buck pile of nothing a lot of people say not to use a magnetic screwdriver even what morons.
