Okay so the build is only 3 months old or so and it has'

  • MSI GTX 970 4Gb gaming edition
    I-5 6600K Processor
    MSI B150M MotherBoard
    16GB of Ram
    256GB Samsung 750 EVO
2 old Seagate 500GB HDD in raid 0
    Windows 10 Home

So the problem is overall the system is generally a little laggy which started after I let games update overnight which is when it started. I then updated drivers, scanned for viruses, Tested drives with Seatools, there is no abnormal heating and no resources are really being used, 0% disk 3% Cpu 10% RAM.
But the real problem is when I launch a game like CSGO, firstly it takes a while to boot up, then long loading times and it doesn't even place me on a team and other errors. But I also get around 20-50 fps on ultra settings, if I drop it down to lowest possible, changing the resolution etc and the fps doesn't change. Even in game not much resources are being utilised and i haven't had any problems like this since I've had it. And then it will sometimes return to normal function without touching anything, but it has also gone from normal, back to the problem mid game without me doing anything as well.

After deciding I don't actually have much to loose I did a clean install of windows and reinstalled just drivers and all the essentials to launch my games and they are all still having the same problem. Cpu and Memory then passed their brand tests and I am currently stumped and don't know if it something in windows or I am experiencing hardware failure.

Thanks

yes Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor can cause this kind of issues ..just put it off

or maybe you have a selector button on your mobo for this function ?
happy you fixed the problem

i noticed on your mobo you got this function :
MSI EZ Debug LED is an easy troubleshooting tool using 3 LEDs to indicate CPU / Memory / VGA operation every time you boot up your system. Run into trouble? Use the LEDs to easily identify the source of your problem and get back into operation quickly

do you have the latest bios version?

1 which model of motherboard you have? MSI B150M .....mortar / bazooka or??
2 why a k version of a cpu when your mobo is not built for k cpu?
3 which psu brand/model you have?
4 sometimes somes windows 10 updates can fuck the system
5 your seagate hdd can be tired a bit where and how you installed windows?

1. Bazooka (I'm pretty sure)
2. I wasn't aware
3. EVGA SuperNOVA G1 Gold 650W Power Supply
4. The installation file i used was from 3 months ago (But i dont know if windows updates when it installs or anything)
5. It doesn't matter what drive it is running off it is slow and windows is running off of the SSD via a usb install

UPDATE: So another thing i noticed was when i booted cs i was getting a solid 300 fps, so i played normally and monitored what happened when it slowed down and i noticed something. When the fps was at around 300 fps the CPU usage was around 40-55%. And as the fps dropped the CPU Usage DROPPED proportionally to when the fps was around 20-30 the CPU usage was around 9% and when the fps eventually rose back up to 300 fps, the CPU usage rose back up to 40-55%.

UPDATE: So when looking at it the fps increase as the temp does. I went into bios and disabled Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor to test and it immediately fixed the problem. I have it re enabled and the issue persists and I'm wondering what to do from here.

Thankyou for the info bios is up to date and i just have one question as i dont have much knoledge in this area. Will disabling this cook my CPU as in will the fans still spin up if it is overheating because I do have it under stress for extended periods of time? Another thing is if it is a problem is there any software that can do this for me that you know of?

``Will disabling this cook my CPU``
normally this should be enable to protect your cpu against high temp , so yes i guess

did you try to put windows in high performance mode by the power management?
try this and tell me what happen ,,you need to reboot to the bios and put Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor to enable or on
after that save and reboot

So that didnt work chanung to high performance mode and i did some testing and after 3 hours the cpu temp only hit 48 degrees after 3 hours of mid intensity testing. Not really an issue but ill keep an eye on it and consider upgrading to a water cooled system unless anyone can shed some new light into the issue.
