Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU next?

Hello, I am trying to increase performance in my system as a whole. Should I upgrade my processor or graphics cads next?

Current CPU: i5 4690k
Current GPU: MSI gtx 970

power supply make and model?


cpu is top tier, a gtx 1070 would be a great upgrade

make sure your power supply is up to the task and has the pcie cables you need

You have a very strong system as it is. About the only thing that would make sense is to replace the GTX 970 with a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080. You could try your hand at overclocking your CPU as well. A moderate overclock is pretty easy to do with an air cooler.

Not sure how to reply to you.. I am running a 4.2ghz over clock right now with the coolermaster v8 GTS air cooler. Can I get a higher safe overclock?

Alright, I'll try to sell my 970 on eBay and get a 1070.
