Currently am able to play basic games at lowest settings,
I wanna upgrade my PC step by step

There are a few things to consider. One, your current videocard is not suitable for gaming, which is why things aren't playing well for you. Next, your current power supply(300W) can only support an upgrade to an Nvidia 750ti or AMD RX 460, cards which have low power requirements and don't need a 6 pin power connector. These cards can run games at 1080p medium settings for the most part. Some games they'll run at high settings, like CSGO/Dota2, but not newer highly demanding games.

Finally, your current CPU will hold back performance in games that are demanding in both CPU and GPU areas. Bottomline, you are past the point of being able to upgrade your computer step by step. You can upgrade the videocard, that's it. Essentially it's...

He is right because your current motherboard isn't capable of handling very good processors. I suppose you can get by with 4GB of RAM and a 300W power supply, but like he said you'll be limited in the GPU's you can get. So yeah it might be a better idea to just start over. You can, however, still use whatever HDD and monitor you have. What's your budget?
