New Mobo and CPU. Getting no display through VGA or DVI.

Specs:

Intel core i5-6500
h110m-k motherboard
Amd 480 8GB graphics card
8GB DDR4 Ram

Nothing I do will get it working. When I boot it up it just makes a powering up sound, no beep or anything. Tried it on a smaller resolution screen as well as a high definition monitor to no avail.

Took everything apart and re done it all step by step through the instructions.

CPU fan is running, Led lights are running, all the MOBO lights(Ethernet etc) are working I don't know what has happened.

I've got a 500W PSU.

This is all new stuff I just bought today and it's a nightmare trying to get it to work!?

Can someone help me asap please!?????

Solution
Bent pins are 100% the culprit and you aren't going to get that fixed under warranty unfortunately. At best you'll get a refurbished board at your own expense. If they are slightly bent then yes try to fix them but it's at your own risk. I guess you don't have a lot to lose because like I say you'd get a rejected RMA for that. It's almost definitely the cause though. The 6th gen Intel sockets are v delicate. Even installing the cooler too tightly can cause damage.
Do you have the PCI Express supplementary power connector connected to the graphics card from the power supply unit?

Have you tried troubleshooting by removing the discrete graphics card and just using the Intel HD Graphics 530 IGPU on the CPU?

Removed Graphics card, still nothing showing up. The CPU fan spins, the led lights are on, but nothing else happens, no beep(Like it used to before the mobo swap) nothing. I'm starting to think I'm going to have to return the Motherboard and CPU on monday and start again. I just hope its not the graphics card as that to my understanding has no warranty as it was bought pre built.

Thank god. DVI and VGA OUT so far I can see. I also just noticed none of the USB ports work. I'm not sure whether I'm and idiot and I should of deleted everything of the hard drive before installing the new CPU and motherboard or not. I got the original windows CD but I don't know what to do if I can't get a display at all. I'm sure I plugged everything in correctly. The rig was pre built with a bad motherboard and CPU and I just got the new CPU and motherboard today. Hopefully I haven't damaged anything in the process of attempting to install it all today. I found in the manual about resetting CMOS or something ? Does this typically work?

The PCIE 6 pin power adaptor was connected to the graphics card with the previous motherboard and CPU so I'm sure it works unless I'm doing something wrong. It has 2 parts. one 6 pin that fits directly on the gpu and one two pin which I don't think goes anywhere? Also is another split of the same exact part. The part I'm connect to the top left of the motherboard is 4 pin. Two of them split. So 2x 4 pins that connect right into the new motherboard. However one says CPU on it and the other has nothing on it.

Also the ram seems to be an issue at the moment. I'm not sure its properly seated? I've pushed as hard as I can and it clicks but is easily able to be pulled out without releasing the trigger thing.

Thanks

If you already have a WIndows installation on your hard drive, it wont help. What you need to do is boot without the hdd connected, and then set the boot order to boot from the CD. Then connect the hdd, delete all partitions on it and do a clean install. See if you can get into your BIOS without the hdd attached. You may have to clear CMOS now to reset them to factory defaults too.

Also, if you have no RAM, as it doesnt sound fitted properly at alll, it wont boot so that may be the only problem. Is the RAM upside down? There's a notch lined up so you can only put it in one way.

Also, does your GPU have one or two 6/8 pin power connectors? If two, have you got them both in?

I've had a closer look at the DDR4 ram and just realised its a really small ram and doesn't seem to be the right size? Overclockers UK gauranteed it was the right fit. Its Hyper X Impact 8GB. Have I bought the wrong one?

On the actual receipt it says Kingston Hyper X Impact Black Series 8GB 2133MHZ DDR4 CL13 SODIMM Kit of 1 HX421S13lb/8

Yeah you got the wrong memory, sorry. You need DIMM not SODIMM (It's twice the size). You will probably be able to exchange it if you just recently bought it. Definitely the cause of no boot. Think you'll find it'll be fine if you get correct RAM.

My bad for the absolutely not knowing something so simple. I drove 2 and a half hours for the CPU motherboard and RAM today to overclockers UK because I couldn't afford the shipping and it was cheaper to drive there and pay no extra costs.

The guy definitely did not pay attention when I asked him if everything was going to work OK. He said "Yep its all up to scratch everything will work together." Disappointing I didn't realise.

So now that is out of the way, I'll be purchasing some cheap 4GB ram whilst I wait for Overclockers to process the exchange as I can only assume it will take a couple days/weeks.

Is this the correct ram? http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/hypertec-8gb-1-x-8gb-ddr4-2133mhz-desktop-memory-a08zu

so I should eventually get two 4gb ram for my pc?

Will this 8GB be ok for a couple weeks in like gaming it wont kill my performance will it ? I simply cant afford to pay a lot of money for decent ram at the moment because of what happened I'm down £49.99 from being sold the wrong ram!

Thanks for all the help guys

I've installed new RAM. This time fits perfect. CPU fan is spinning, Leds are on, Graphics card spinning, Hard drive wiped and wanting to install new windows, disk drive working but no display through VGA or through HDMI/DVI. Nothing at all. Doesn't show up on any screens I plug it into.

Coolermaster 500W PSU I thought this was good enough for this build? I'm assuming its going to be my motherboard or cpu or gpu thats broken am I right?

Yes I've plugged in the DVI to HDMI and the VGA port on the mobo and nothing works. Neither does the graphics card.

SO far as I'm aware EVERYTHING is installed correctly. Maybe the CPU isn't ? I put the arrow according to the manual of the motherboard exactly. So I don't see how that can't be working.

Starting to panic now. Day 2 with no working pc apart from a laptop.

If the CPU wasn't installed it would probably get stuck in a boot loop, and keep restarting. Does it turn on and stay on? Does the board have an internal speaker or anything to listen to diagnostic beep codes? As long as everything is connected correctly and the CMOS has been reset there's no reason why it shouldn't work. As long as you reset CMOS properly after installing new RAM anyway. When you say DVI to HDMI output, what do you mean? An adapter?

Just looking at the CPU socket in the motherboard, some of the pins are slightly off/bent. Only about 5 from what i can see. Would it be worth it to just take the motherboard and cpu back and get a new one?

This is probably the only time in my life i've had this problem with a pc. and i've installed about 5 - 6 cpu's and motherboards on my previous build a few years ago without this problem.
