I apologize if this is not placed in the right category of the forums but this is the best option I saw.

Build:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

Storage: PNY CS1311 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB WINDFORCE OC 6G Video Card

Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

This is my second build, my first was about 5 years ago and now I have decided to build another so I am in no way experienced but I also have more knowledge than the average person. I followed the instructions on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2dJvqU2_x4

When I attempted to boot the pc without the graphics card installed, on the monitor something along the lines of no bootable device found. I was told that was a good sign to keep moving forward. After installing the graphics card and final touches I tried to test boot again. The cpu fan would spin, the graphics card fans would spin for 1 second and then stop. The motherboard would light up but other than that it was very quiet. I am not attempting to take it apart and rebuild it more carefully with another video. I am sorry I am unable to provide more details with my lack of knowledge but I am still learning and any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to ask for any other information that I can provide if you think it will help.

Have you definitely got all power cables attached? And bent/damaged/missing pins in the CPU socket (means removing the cpu chip and looking), physical damage to the RAM slots, any scorch marks or leakage from capacitors etc would be the things to look for. If it worked first time its unlikely though and should work again. Try just connecting the basics - both power supplies and the RAM. If you cant even get power and your PSU has been tested then it's definitely the MB.

No I did not have any sort of OS installation media attached, I have the downloaded files on an external hard drive that I planned to install if the process got any further. Was I supposed to do this sooner?

Sorry I should have specified but when I attempted to boot it the second time with the build finished, nothing would show up on the screen (not even the bootable device message anymore). Just the CPU fan would spin and mobo would light up. Other than that nothing that I noticed.

I brought the pc into a store to get it briefly looked at for free and the psu and gpu were tested and seemed fine. Their opinion was the motherboard was the problem, is there any way to test this before I figure out how to return it? or a way to rule out the cpu as the issue?

No lights from the motherboard currently but originally it did light up before I restarted the build. I have not noticed any damages but what are some specifics I should check for?

I have tried making sure everything is firmly attached and there was no obvious damage to the CPU or RAM slots. I am going to assume is the motherboard and will have to ship it back.
