Asus Maximus VII Hero SATA ports information

Hi

I have this built for about 2 years Maximus VII Hero, 4790K (OC to 4.4 permanent) 16 GB 2133 RAM, SSD, GTX 970 and other good things, but it is not relevant to the question.
I have bad experience with PCIE SATA cards in the past, 2 of them died on me in my older PC (my signature), thanks GOD no corrupted HDDs as result, but I could not access BIOS and everything was so slow, including boot times (with Intel 520 SSD), that I finally decided to pull the plug and stay with MOBO SATA ports only, as much as possible.
My new build Hero has 8 SATA ports, Intel x6 and ASmedia x2.
Question. Does any of those ports support Plug and Play, as I need for one HDD slot to be removable, so I can swap extra HDDs for DATA backups. I have Corsair 760t case with easy to open side doors and I don't mind to connect one HDD manually, without any docks or insert modules, I just want maximum transfer speed and 100% reliability.
If Plug and Play is not supported, would I have major headaches with UEFI BIOS during frequent HDD swap (after shutting down PC and changing HDD). PC boots up very fast, so for 100% reliability I would sacrifice my time and extra work.

I don't have enough budget to think about some king of external multi bay storage system at this point, plus I did not see anything reliable under $150 or so, everything has bunch of flows, dead end.

Appreciate for any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
