Hello, I have a problem and I really need help with my internet. So recently my internet started doing this weird thing where it would suddenly cut off completely (0 kbps) for 2 seconds every 9 seconds. I went to my friend's house today for a birthday party and I brought my laptop to play some games and this process only occurred for about 10 minutes and the internet would be cut off for a second instead of 2 and every I'd say 60 seconds instead of 9.

This problem is really annoying because I'm a gamer and the character I'm controlling in the game would just completely freeze for the 2 second interval and this is really bad because most times I'm playing an important role against real people not bots.

Now this isn't just for games because I would be in a Skype call with Skype being the only program opened on my laptop and it would still do the same issue. It would go silent for me and my friends wouldn't be able hear me for the 2 second interval and in-game communication is very important. The thing is I don't know if it's my computer or my internet because no one at my friend's house (7 people) were having the issue or if it's the internet because at my house instead of it being short, the problem has lasted for literally 3 days.

A little side note this happened once and it stopped after I reset my computer and the internet but 2 days later what I just described happened and I tried the same technique over and over again but it won't go away this time.

ANY help at all is appreciated greatly thanks in advance! And here's a picture of what it looks like in task manager: http://

May be some program trying to "phone home" or otherwise do some update or connection.

First turn off any power saving settings on the laptop. See if that helps.

Use Performance Monitor and Resource Monitor to see what applications, services, and processes are running.

Investigate any that you do not recognize or are running when you do not expect them to be running.

You can disable them one by one to see if and when your connection speeds up or otherwise improves. Just be careful not to turn off some critical process - google to find out more if the purpose of some process is not clear.

Once identified, the process will probably need to be removed from the startup list.
