Hello everyone,

I'm having troubles when trying to run both an SSD (with windows installed), and a HDD as a storage unit.
When the SSD is plugged in by itself in ACHI mode, BIOS detects it and windows will load as normal. However when connecting the HDD to use as a storage unit, BIOS no longer detects the SDD, and only detects the HDD under boot order, and storage configuration.
When changing to IDE mode I've realized that BIOS will detect both of the drives, however the SSD wont load windows in IDE mode.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I have the drives connected as follows,

Sata_3: SSD
Sata_4: HDD

No disc drive connected.

Thanks for your help in advanced!

That's probably the problem. There may be some partitions/format settings on the old HDD. Try booting in AHCI with only the SSD then connecting the HDD with hot plug function and properly erasing the entire disk and all of it's partitions. I am guessing your HDD is making your system try to boot in IDE mode which doesn't support your AHCI SSD.
