Desktop Screen Extended to a Laptop

Currently running a PC with 3 screens using an AMD HD5870 Eyefinity 6 card - this takes up 3 outputs leaving a further 3 spare (all Mini Displayports). What I want to do is to connect my Acer Aspire laptop so that it provides a 4th screen - extended or copied - for my desktop PC. Both computers are using Windows 7 Home Edition, and all are updated to current.
So far, I have tried Avatron Air Display but I keep getting an error 2753 when I try to install the Desktop program - the laptop program appears to be installed correctly but it is difficult to confirm this whilst the Desktop program will not install. However, Air Display is just the kind of program that I am looking for and I have tried a couple of similar programs without success.
Has anyone any suggestions that will get me out of my problem? All sensible ideas will be tried, and I am not against using cabling in some form if that is what it takes.
Please make your suggestions suitable for a computer moron - age is NOT always helpful!
Regards to all, and successful computing ,

Philhen

Hi there,
Many thanks for the swift reply. I have been working on this problem, on and off, for several weeks now, but as you have said, I have been led to the inescapable conclusion that another monitor is needed. The trouble is that I hate wasting resources, and to not use the laptop in this way seems almost like a crime.

Thanks anyway,

Regards and good luck,

Philhen
