It's been great having an SSD finally after years of standard HDDs, but all the sudden within the last month or so, my PC has been hanging up on windows boot, and taking a few minutes instead of a few seconds to boot to the login screen. After I sign in, nothing is different. My PCs performance is all the same as it has been, but I don't understand the long boot time.

I downloaded Samsung Magician, and it's showing everything as perfectly fine, performance test showed great results, and SMART showed OK in all categories. I checked the SATA port and the SSD in case the cable got loose, but they're both perfectly fine. I'm just absolutely stumped.

Western Digital 1 TB HDD
GeForce GTX 970
Corsair 760W 80+ Fully Modular PSU

Solution
Hey there, Nevets_Vyse.

Have you installed any OS updates or any other software prior to this issue?
I'd recommend that you try the SSD with a different SATA port and with different cables, just to check if the same thing happens again. Do you experience any other issues whatsoever, e.g. when transferring data between your two drives, freezing or hanging of the system, etc?

I'd recommend that you check out the suggestions from this article: https://www.maketecheasier.com/12-things-you-must-do-when-running-a-solid-state-drive-in-windows-7/. Even if it says Win 7, they are still viable for the newer versions as well. This could help you improve the performance and life expectancy of the SSD.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it...
