Will this motherboard work with 1 cpu?

I want to get this motherboard for my birthday, but I can only afford 1 cpu when it's suppose to use 2 cpus. Will it work with only 1 cpu until I can afford to get another cpu (Xeon E5-2670)?

In many cases, yes. But which specific motherboard are you buying? A google search will usually yield results for this too.
