Hey all,

I am In need of a new Power Supply as mine isn't sufficient enough for my system anymore.
I have a 500w EVGA 80+ White but I need a 600w PSU for my GTX 770.

I only have £60 so that is the maximum I can pay, including shipping.

What are your suggestions?

Specs:
MSI GTX 770 2GB Twin Frozr
i5-2500 Quad Core
8GB 1600 MHz RAM
240GB SSD
150GB and 250GB HDD

Thanks!

There is absolutely nothing for £60 or less from 600w-750w that I'd trust to be a paperweight, never mind a psu.

You have to take recommendations with a grain of salt, they are meant to cover all the bases from very good psus to semi-junk (true junk psus won't come close to rated wattage closer to ½.

Think of it this way as ultimate max wattage.
100w for cpu
50w for everything else
300w for gpu (6+8+pcie)
100w OC.
Thats 550w if your entire pc was maxed out, which is physically impossible, you'll not run 100%cpu and 100%gpu and optical with hdd and fans etc at 100%.

As it is, the gtx 770 is a 230w card, slightly more for 3rd party, maybe 250w.
At best you'll be @ 50-70% power load gaming, which is perfect for a good 550w, puts...
Do you have any issues with your current psu? I personally see no reason to get a new one, if your current is still working. 500w is enough for your system.

If you really need to upgrade the corsair cx550m is a good psu for you. How much does it cost in your country?

Hi mate, the recommended wattage for my card is 600w. My computer has shut down and the PSU has reached high temperatures, so unfortunately, I need to upgrade to something 600w or above.

At best you'll be @ 50-70% power load gaming, which is perfect for a good 550w, puts you right at the top efficiency bracket. Which means less heat. And since the 2500 doesn't OC, the best you'll be able to run is @ 400-420w, well inside capability of a good 550w.

The CX550M is more than capable for your pc, and in your budget, is by far the highest quality psu.

Your system will use around 300-350w while gaming, the corsair cx550m is a good quality unit for its price, and will run your system perfectly fine. :) the recommended wattage is always a bit exaggerated.
