Help deciding which rx series graphics card should I get for my build

So I've been lurking around these forums and internet, trying to find a solution for my problem. I'm currently in the process of building my first gaming PC, and I've pretty much decided all parts apart from the graphics card. I'm getting a freesync monitor with my setup and thus I've leaning towards getting an AMD graphics card. But I can't decide whether I should buy a RX 470 or RX 480, whether it should be 8gb or 4gb model and from which manufacturer.

I'm looking forward to being able to play at 60fps with (almost) maxed out settings games such as Heroes and Generals, Borderlands series, possibly some newer AAA titles, but the first two mentioned are more important. I'd rather get one with good quality and that stays cool, as I'm intending on keeping it for several years at least. I can afford the pricier RX 480s, but I'd rather get a cheaper option, if it still performs good enough. As it is my first build, I'm not planning to overclock or anything fancy (at least in the beginning).

Where I'm buying my parts (mindfactory.de), the 4gb rx 470s are currently going for about 195-215€, the 8gb rx 470s are about 240€, 4gb rx 480s are about 220-245€ and 8gb rx 480s are 260-295€

Here's the rest of my build, if that has any effect on this:
Intel i5-6500 processor
MSI B150m Mortar motherboard
520W Seasonic S12II PSU
250GB Samsung 750 Evo SSD
1000GB Western Digital Blue HDD
16GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2133 dual kit RAM
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU cooler
Deepcool Tesseract SW-RD case

and the monitor is AOC G2460VQ6 24"

Solution

I've already made my decision, and as a matter of fact already built my PC :D I went for AMD as the freesync monitors are so much cheaper than G-sync. Decided to go with MSI rx 480 Gaming X 8gb model to be good for many years to come. So far I have been very happy with it, after small troubles with the fans in the beginning (turned out to be software issue).

I was at first leaning towards GTX 1060 6GB model (Gigabyte one)...

You can max Borderlands 1 and 2 with the rx 470 at 60+ but with the prequel you'll probably get down to 50 fps a lot. Its still a great card. They're all excellent cards actually. If it were me I would get the 4gb rx 480, its only 5€ more than the 470 it seems.

There are only 2 rx 480 4gb models around the 220€ mark, the Sapphire Nitro+ and the XFX RS, the rest are over 15€ more. I haven't seen much about the XFX model, but the Sapphire Nitro+ seems good in other reviews. Only thing is that I don't like the looks of it too much. I guess that doesn't matter too much, as the PC will be on the floor out of my sight. Also is the 4gb enough for future as well? I want this card to last for a while.

Well as I said, this is my first build, I'm kinda doubtful to even try overclocking let alone some tricks to unlock more vram.

Sorry for the late reply, had a medical emergency. :p

Yeah don't worry the extra vram. Either way I would go with the 4gb model I personally don't thing the 8gb is worth the extra money.

If you had decided to go with only team Red (AMD) cards then get the RX480 8 gig if you will never game beyond 1080p then get the RX 480 4gig
Or if you would consider Nvidia get the GTX 1060 3 GB for 1080p or the 1060 6Gb for much better 1080p gaming and beyond if they could fit your budget pls consider them

So far I've been pleased, I can max out settings on all of the games I've tried and get mostly over 100fps still (though I've limited the FPS to the refresh rate, to get the most out of the freesync).
