So i posted my speccy screenshot to another forum of my three year old build that i'd recently put a titan x pascal into from sli 780's:

And a user replied with:

'Your ram is stuck at 1333, go into bios and clock it to whatever your ram supports, maybe a bit more.Your welcome. '

The ram I have is:

16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x8GB)

and my motherboard is:

Gigabyte Z87X UD4H

I have never overclocked anything or messed with stuff before, this was a prebuilt rig, I just upgraded the gpu last week, all I've ever done myself, can somebody help me out? Would it work? Would it make a big difference? How do i do it etc and is it safe to do?

Cheers!

Solution
By default the DRAM will go to the mobos default, go into BIOS and enable XMP, select profile 1. Then in Win check with the free app CPU-Z, in the memory tab - it will show the true freq you are running at, then take that x 2 to find effective - i.e. if it shows 800 then you are at 1600 as it is DOUBLE data rate (DDR)

ok will do! and this won't damage anything etc? read on another site that if turbo boost is enabled then doing this could reduce the lifespan of the board / cpu greatly?

cool!

just out of interest....what sort of performance improvements would I be looking at? I mean...faster loading times etc or what? As I was happy enough with what it was at before!
