I have windows 10 installed on my ssd and it boots up fine but when I plug in my old internal hard drive it doesn't boot up and gets stuck at the loading screen. I'm suspecting that my old hard drive is either dying or is corrupted. Anyway i can fix the hdd and retrieve the data inside?

Hi there KayandtheJay,

Unfortunately, this could be the case.
Failing secondary drives could result in similar issues as well as overall system instability.

As your system won't boot, I believe you can try to access the data with some data recovery tool for DOS mode. Check the Ubuntu Live CD approach out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

You will need a CD or a flash drive so you can boot Ubuntu. Then, you can navigate to the drive and back up the data stored on it.
Once you've done that, you can test it with some HDD testing tool for DOS mode.

Have you put the old hard drive in a USB enclosure and attached while booted with the SSD?
You should be able to see the hard drive then and copy your data off. If it doesn't show up you need to decide how important the data is and whether or not you are willing to pay several hundreds of dollars minimum to get your data back. If you are never going to pay that, then there is software out there that might be able to recover your data. Getdataback is one, or iCare data recovery, there are a lot. I usually use the free version to see if it can see the data and then buy the license to recover it.
