i recently got a second r9 290x and i installed it in my pc, when running games there is no difference in fps for crossfire mode or not, amd radeon vulkan says crossfire is enabled, but other sources like speccy says it is disabled.

when playing games i see the crossfirex logo in the top right but the gpus doesnt work the same time, they both go 100% and then 1%. (when the first is 100 the second is 1 and vice versa). they dont work togheter. i really want more fps so can someone help me?
my specs are
sabertooth 990fx
amd 8350
2x r9 290x
8gb ram
1200 watt evga power supply

im sorry to tell you...

your CPU is your problem.

you can throw crossfire RX480 at it. you will not see a single bit of FPS increase. basically your cpu... cant even keep a single rx290x going at full capacity, 2nd one is not going to change anything.

If you are short on money... here is one solution for you... i3-6100 with ddr3 motherboard, It is not 100% solution since it's only 2 core cpu but it will increase performance greatly. You could aim for 6500 i5 with a budget motherboard, that will go much further, these are still compatible with DDR3 rams.

Let us know what you think about my response to you

i am very low to no budget, but i looked up other forums and the amd fx8350 should handle the 290x crossfire, so i dont think that is the problem, and if it is, why should programs like speccy say my gpu's arent in crossfire, i'd like to see another solution because i really dont have the money to buy a new cpu
