Hi guys I got a specific problem when I join any multiplayer game I get internet speed drop . My internet speed is 50-60mb/s and with upload of 2mb/s . But when I connect to any type of multiplayer (e.g GTA V ,CSGO,League,ETS 2 MP etc. ) my speed drops to 1-2mb/s and its pretty unplayable . i've contacted ISP they came checked cables everything is in good shape when they tested the speed it was good on their device but on the pc itself its shitty,it happens with and without wireless ( tried both ) . Any help guys ? I've tried everything :/

Who manages your router? Can you check the router's logs (if activated) for any entries that occur when you begin to game?

Before you start playing open Resource Monitor and Performance Monitor on your computer. Get a sense of what is going on with your computer.

Then open up one of your multi-player games and see what, if anything, changes in the monitors.

Start by running ping, pathping, and tracert commands via the command prompt.

Target google, the gaming site, and a couple of other sites that you know.

The results will provide some information about the route (actually routes because the path can constantly change). May be some problem outside of your control and even your ISPs.

And, as I understand things, there are some people who cheat in the games and that may be happening. They do things to slow other players.

Or it could be congestion.

In any case more needs to be known.

Is there any quantifiable difference in the performance loss (i.e., the " speed drop") with respect to the time(s) that you play? In other words if you play at a time when it is likely that: a) there are fewer people likely to be on the internet in your area and/or b) there are fewer people likely to be playing the game?

If performance during a) is better then it could be a local congestion/bandwidth issue. If performance is better during b) it could either be less congestion due to fewer players along with fewer players doing some sort of a cheat.

Well the time doesnt matter, its the same if I play at 1 AM or 1PM ,but the thing that I cannot understand is why would speed drop ? Why did that start happening month or two ago ,I will call my ISP again tommorow and see if they can help me out ,I've thought about maybe using some kind of Internet Speed Locker and if I could lock my speed to a lower one maybe that would prevent that ?

I've contacted my ISP and they said its not on their end which means its something about me,the "DS" led on modem is blinking dont know if that is something important ?

They said "its not on their end" - may not be accurate.

The blinking in itself may be normal or it may be some indication of a problem. Need to find a reference source with respect to any diagnostic meaning.

Google "Modem DS light blinking" or some variations of those words. Include your modem make and model.

Normally would provide a link or two but it is best if you take a look yourself and visit websites that seem most relevant to your situation. I.e., any websites that specifically involve your modem and ISP.

Look for the modem's User Guide/Manual as well. The manual should provide an explanation of the DS led's function(s). May even present different colors.

But to be fair be sure to double check all cables and connections on your end. Look for any loose connectors, kinked or damaged cabling, corrosion, bare metal showing, etc.. Check any power connections as well.

The blinking is normal,I've called them again and asked what could be problem and they've said on our end your modem seems to be fine connection is good so we cant help you out. I've tried reinstalling windows, changing ethernet cable, trying it with and without wifi and any other idea i've had,so I dont know how to fix the problem :/

Could be just traffic related and/or the quality of the communications lines to the gaming servers. Outside of your and your ISP's control.

You might take a closer look at what all is running and using resources on your computer when/while you are participating in a multi-player game.

Use Task Manager, Performance Manager, and Resource Manager to monitor your computer. Focus on network related parameters and metrics.

May find some unecessary applications running (i.e., some backup, some update attempt, etc.) that you could uninstall, disable, or remove from startup to free up resources on your computer.

Thats the thing nothing out of the ordinery out of the apps that use the most there are chrome, spotify and the client/game exe itself and skype... I've tried turning everything off and only running the game still the same :/ One thing I've noticed is that in the night time from 9PM to about 3-4 in the morning its better but the problem is still there, internet doesnt drop to 2-3 mb/s it drops to 6-7 and its a little bit better but the problems are still there :/ Dont know what to do I will check with other pc's I have tommorow because I am in some trouble with college exams so I dont have time to re-install windows and stuff like that so I will post with after I test it there.

Yes. Focus on your exams. That is what is really important.

Then enjoy a break if you have one and do some additional testing. Post what you find and we can go from there.

You still have some options available and a reinstall may not solve the problem because the problem is not yet known.

Good luck with the tests.
