I made my own computer last year so no bloody clue if I missed an issue, windows 7 is working fine, my wireless connection is working, and have checked for updates in device manager for both my adapter and USB hubs.

I moved for uni last month and no change in internet at all. Both houses are and were using virgin Media with their SuperHub box, both reset, and no noticeable difference.

Wired is not an option as my landlord is using the downstairs plugs.

My computer specs are:
Intel Core i5 4690K
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3
Gigabyte Z97P-D3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Samsung SSD 850 EVO

Wireless adapter:
NETGEAR A6210 WiFi USB 3.0 Adapter.

Please, can someone help because I really am thinking of quitting online gaming forever. Thank you.

Solution
Unless you can check the router and modem and contact the IPS, there is nothing you can work on to fix this. 90% chance it's not an issue with the computer itself. Test this on Ethernet also not just on wireless.

My ping is averaging at 20-30ms, but when in game or pinging to other websites it can hit up to 400.
My lag specifically as I can be (not sure entirely how to) is:

When I play a game (rocket league for instance) my game will teleport me across the map or move me about a little and mess me up. Sometimes my ping will hit 200 every now and then (I've seen it hit 1300 before). This happens in every game, CSGO included where when I change weapons it lags and sticks me back on my previous weapon.

Here is a video I recorded of the lag I suffer:

Hope this helps.

thank you

I am not too sure I can mess about with the router - I live in a house with my landlord and don't think he will be too happy, I will ask in the meantime. I have checked out my best MTU and will see how to sort this out.

Thank you
