Hi everyone,

So, I've got 3GB DDR2 of RAM in my rig at the moment and the most it can support is 8GB according to the manufacturer's website. Link

I just want to upgrade from the 3GB I have now, to 8GB, the maximum it can take. I'm aware that I will need to go from a 32bit to 64bit OS. Also, there are only 2 RAM slots, so it'd have to be 2 x 4GB DDR2 sticks or just 1x8GB DDR2, whichever would be best performance wise.

Here is my rig:

Motherboard: ASRock G41M-VS2
PSU: Corsair CX500
RAM: 3GB DDR2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit

Here is a screenshot of CPU-Z:

Now, which kind of DDR2 sticks can I actually use with this setup? Obviously DDR2, however speed wise?
Edit: I think from my understanding, what the motherboard can take is; DDR2 800 which means PC2 6400 stick. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for reading and any replies!

Yep, DDR2 800 seems to be the maximum. I see no 1x8GB mentioned, so you should avoid that.

DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Cas Latency 6
Voltage 1.8V

According to Crucial's compatibility system
DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

Not seeing many 4GB sticks available, so good luck.
