I'm having trouble running Battlefield 4

My specs:

Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.4GHz

GTX 1070 8GB

8GB DDR4 RAM

Monitor is ASUS VG248 144Hz

My GeForce Experience App has my most recent drivers updated and has already optimized my game for me, but I'm still experiencing frame drops. Do I need to add more RAM to my system?

Solution
if you arent running through the video card, it will use the integrated graphics on your CPU. thats enough for regular display and such, but you need to be on the video card to do any gaming. make sure its enabled in your device manager and switch cables (reboot if necessary).

What I basically mean is that BF4 is running for me as if my computer can't handle the game. My frames on my optimized ultra settings in the GeForce App are *2 FPS* and even when I switch everything to low graphics, I'm still getting about *6-9 FPS*. Is there anything I can do about this?

I did get this build recently, about a month ago, but I only got around to setting it up this past Columbus Day weekend. This happens with most of my games, but Battlefield is the worst of it right now. I have CoD4 and W@W, and Gmod and they seem to not be running at their best either, despite my system being more than capable of handling them. I don't know how to check if my CPU is running at it's best, this is my first build,

task manager will tell you the basics: cpu speed, memory usage, etc. HWMONITOR will tell you what your temps are, you could be thermal throttling. and MSI Afterburner will give you an on-screen display while gaming to monitor usage and temps while in a game.

find out what freq your cpu is running, make sure it is at least 3.4 GHz (will probably boost and be a little higher).
if your cpu is good, check your RAM usage. make sure it isn't really high for no reason. probably around 2.5-3 GB while idle, and 6-7 GB in-game.
if cpu is good and RAM usage isn't too high, check your gpu. gpu core speed should be around 1500-1800 MHz while in-game. its usage should also be pegged at 97-100%.

figure out whats going on, and report back.

This is a pre-built system, iBUYPOWER BB905, so I assume everything is plugged in as it should be. I have manually installed drivers from the NVIDIA website to be sure that they're on their most recent update. My PSU is a High Power HPG-600ST-F12S.

those screenshots are taken while gaming right? at least the second one. looks like you tabbed out of COD 4. try going into nvidia control panel and under 3d settings > power management > prefer max performance.

you should contact iBUYPOWER and tell them you are having trouble.

When I start the control panel it's giving me a pop-up that I'm using a display not attached to my NVIDIA GPU.

I have emailed iBUYPOWER about my 1070 idle clocking, I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

I'm using a DVI cable plugged into the motherboard. When I plugged into the video card during my setup, nothing would appear on my monitor, so I switched it to my motherboard

...

... Words cannot describe how retarded I feel right now about switching the DVI cable...

But that aside, I appreciate you feeling me through this, it's a little intimidating making the switch from console to PC. Thanks, man.

i assume it works now. and youre welcome!! cant tell you how many times i have done stupid shit like that... sorry i didnt suggest it sooner.

it is a big jump coming from a console, but in a good way. you should get familiar with your rig and those apps i had you install are very useful for diagnosing or even monitoring performance boosts.
