My current motherboard is an Asus P8B75-M LX and my current CPU is an Intel Core i5 3330. What is a better CPU that will fit on my current motherboard, im also looking for a better GPU that will fit my current motherboard, any suggestions?

Solution
Intel core i7-3770K @ 4.6GHz, 1.208v
MSI Z77 mpower,
Asus GTX 970 STRIX, 1493 / 7864 OC
Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 1866MHz 16G,
Evga G2 550w,
Nzxt X61,
Samsung 840 Pro 128G,
WD Black 1TB,
Fractal Design R5 Window

Thats me. Grand total invested was less than $600, and was started almost 3 yrs ago. And it'll still take a skylake i5 6600k with OC to tie it, in 4 thread max apps (it'll still win in apps using more than 4 threads like WoW or BF4, Gta:V etc) or the i7 6700k to beat it. Skylake cpus are only @20% better performance in the comparable cpu vrs Ivy Bridge. That's roughly 10 or so fps, give or take a few. Compared to an AMD Fx, hah, thats still a joke.
Oh, I've had the cpu upto 4.9GHz,1.32v stable, just didn't feel like...

Thank you, this is what my motherboard supports, not sure if that will change anything "The Intel® B75 Express is the latest single-chipset design that supports the new socket 1155 Intel® Core™ i3/Core™ i5/Core™ i7 2nd and 3rd generation processors."

my suggestion is to get a new mobo/cpu altogether, why spend money on a new cpu that goes on an old mobo?
plan for the future.

1151 i5 6400 z170 board of ur choice and non-k overclock to 4.6ghz ddr4 ram of ur choice.
upgrade dont down grade =)

Absolutely nothing wrong with top line lga1155. My i7-3770K has yet to see above 53%cpu usage no matter what I've thrown at it other than p95 26.6 and RealBench. Easily on par if not better than a skylake i5-6500 for performance. Why should op spend $350+ for a new cpu/mobo/ram when similar performance can be had for $150 or less used? My i7-3770K cost me $50 on eBay.

Simplist answer is i7-3770K, i7-3770 or Xeon 1230v2 for cpu. Gpu depending on the monitor and your expectations. For a standard 1080p/60Hz monitor you want a gtx1060 or radeon Rx480. For a 1440p monitor or 1080p/144Hz you'll want a gtx1070. For a 4k monitor you'll want a gtx1080. Minimum. You can always go bigger, but that's sometimes wasted money. As in no need really for a gtx1080 for a single or dual 1080p/60Hz monitor.

2.7GHz i5-6400 is a serious downgrade vrs 3.4GHz i7-3770 any day of the week, no matter which way you want to look at it. The only thing better about the 6400 over the 3770 is the igpu. As if that's of any importance.

This was my original idea, ASRock Z170M Pro4S Motherboard, Intel Core i7 6700K, Corsair Hydro Series H115i 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler, Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD16GX4M2B3200C16 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4, ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Strix Aura 8GB. But someone suggested that I go with a CPU that fits my current motherboard

Wow that's bouncy. The cpu would be great, the mobo is bottom line, the cpu cooler is far beyond what's usable, you'll hit voltage limits long before thermal limits on that cpu/cooler - kinda way overkill, great ram for OC otherwise wasted money, performs the same as ram at ½ it's price at out of the box settings, and it's a fantastic gpu - for a 4k or tri-surround 1080p setup. If you aren't adverse to saving a bunch of cash, you could come up with a better balanced build, but for budget options, a simple cpu change and matching gpu is by far cheaper.

@ kara: what do u use to benchmark? id like to compare your rig with mine just to see whats up

@ OP honestly im not tryin to shit on anyone. my opinion is straight up man, generally when u buy stuff u want new up to date gear. unless u get some deal.
you dont go to a hockey store and ask for skates/sticks that were selling 2 years ago. most often or not its the same damn price. so up to u how u want to weigh it. im just saying pc is an investment and its got variables depending on users. for me i like to buy close to top end stuff that will last at least 4-5yrs. in ur case u can easily buy that cpu and be done with but down the road in 6 months time or w/e ur gonna decided u want the latest gear.

anddd btw: WTF? ur putting a 1080 on ur list? iono man u gotta check urself before u rekt urself
if thats the case why bother even talkin about getting the cpu?
shit just drop ur wallet on an extreme chip with titan x while ur at it lol

i wouldnt even think about getting the 1080 just me personally wouldnt spend a $1000 on a card.. just unnecessary, im actually having a hard time just buying the 1070, but because of the huge step up in performance i can justify spending that much.

Ok thank you, question what is better out of the two EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti PCI-E 2.0 x16

The HD 6950 is considerably stronger than the 550ti, however, it comes at a unfortunate price. The 6950 would have been much better off with 2Gb vrs the 1Gb, so is bottlenecked from the get go. It's also quite old and as such, efficiency back then isn't what it is now, or even close. Those cards got hot. Also needs 100w more than the 550ti. It's the stronger performing card, but won't get close to performance levels needed to get good playability on today's games.

Another quick question would this ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 Turbo 6GB graphics card fit on my current Motherboard Asus P8B75-M LX and what is a recommended power supply for that GPU?
