Best lga 771 Xeon for Workstation

Hey guys
so i need a mobile easy to carry for my course next year because #fuckpaying$2000foralaptop
so i want to put either a micro atx or mini itx in a flat case or mod a briefcase with fans and such and put motherboard standoffs in it and a cutout for io but you get the point.
what is the best lga 771 xeon for photoshop and stuff like that, i would find out myself but all te threads about it are ones that are the best for gaming or their all about running dual xeons which since ill be doing the lga 771 in a lga 775 board conversion i cant do two cpu's.

NP, I figure you know what you are looking to do and know the risks associated with doing it. (compatibility issues). There are a lot of people on this site that look at the age of something and assume it's now garbage. My CPU is 6 years old in December and I still have no reason to upgrade and my alternate desktop runs pretty decent with a Q9550.

Finally someone else who agrees that older hardware like the Core 2 Quads are garbage like alot of people seem to think.
and as for the compatibility bit ive already checked what my board can support.

The C2Q's do have some limitations, but they still handle decently(I got a used motherboard that is limited to DDR2, 8gb max). I can run Starcraft 2 on high settings, and that game is more CPU intensive than GPU. Diablo 3 runs smooth on medium/high, but that is mostly because the GPU in the system is a limitation (Radeon 6870). A lot of people don't understand that sometimes a machine is good enough and doesn't have to be the latest and greatest to perform as needed.

Good luck with the machine, it should serve you well.

I just re-read my previous post and wow, can't believe my main system is 6-years old...time flies!

Oh thats awesome, my C2Q machine is my lan party computer though the board only goes up to 4gb ddr2 which is ok fo rthe games we play but if we ever play something like gta v it wont really handle it.
