Hi all,

Yesterday I updated everything in my PC except the video card. I used to have an old Asus motherboard with AMD-8350 now I have an Asus z170 pro with Intel Core i7-6700K.

I didn't buy a new video card yet, so I'm using my Sapphire 270x r9 (2GB).

This morning I only had the time to run Heaven Benchmark and I was a bit shocked to see that it runs completely the same. In fact I even got a tiny bit less score. Around 700 in total, so around 25 fps in average. Which really sucks.

Is Sapphire 270x r9 (2GB) that bad?

Did I just choose the wrong Benchmark?

Have I wasted 700€ for nothing? : )

Thank you for the answers.

Solution
That's because Heaven Benchmark is GPU bound rather than CPU bound, therefore relying on your GPU rather than your CPU. If you wan't an accurate benchmark for measuring CPU performance, try Cinebench R15: https://www.maxon.net/en/products/cinebench/

You haven't wasted your money, the 6700k is an extremely good CPU and it will see you through for many years to come, but you probably want to look at a new GPU soon. Something like an RX480 or GTX 1070 depending on your budget.

Hope this helps :)
