What To Buy First? Graphics Card or Monitor?

Hello PC enthusiasts.

I am currently wondering which to buy first.
The first option is to buy a GTX 1050ti and stay with the 17" square monitor I've had since forever and wait till i get a summer job or get a 24" 1080p monitor and use it with my R7 250 1gb DDR5 till the summer?

I'm on a budget here since I have to pay my university fees and get a driver's license so yeah, all responses are appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm with FX-8300 processor and 8gb ddr3 ram.

^ I chose as solution. You can always watch Netflix, do hw, etc on your monitor. You'll appreciate it over a 17" any day. All a GPU is good for is gaming. A little contemplating and I think you could have figured this out for yourself though...

Yes but that's the thing. I enjoy gaming a lot.
Would not have asked this question if I didn't play video games.
