Hello. I just built my first pc and all went well until I had to install Win 10. The mobo doesn't detect my SSD and HDD and it doesn't show any SATA information on UEFI BIOS.

I tried swapping SATA ports on the mobo, swapping SATA power on the psu, connecting one drive at a time, nothing came up.

I have to say I updated the UEFI to the latest 2202 version, and I don't remember if before updating the drives showed up.

CPU: i5 6600k
MOBO: asus z170 pro
SSD: samsung evo 850 512gb
HDD: wd black 3tb
PSU: evga 650 supernova p2

Hey there again, @Robb!

Yes, I suspect that the issue must be coming from the motherboard itself. However, I'd strongly recommend you re-seat the connections to the drives again and make sure everything is properly connected. Both the SSD & the HDD should be plugged to the mobo via SATA and to the PSU via the Molex cable.
However, keep in mind that a clean install of Windows on the SSD will require you to unplug the WD Black from the mobo. That way you will avoid the potential OS confusion which basically stores the system files randomly across all the SATA devices connected!
Since the SATA mode is in AHCI, maybe you should also try enabling CSM (Compatiblity Support Module) to see if that will make the SATA drives pop up. While in...
Welcome to the community, @ROBB9696!

You have done a great job with the troubleshooting by swapping the ports/cables and connecting the SSD & HDD one at a time. I'd strongly recommend going to the BIOS menu - Advanced Storage configuration and check if you have the SATA controller enabled from there. You could also try resetting BIOS and re-configuring the settings afterwards again. I'd also advise you see if the SATA mode is set to AHCI. To make sure there's nothing wrong with the SSD or the WD Black, you could try plugging them in another PC as well.
Since this is a new build, if none of the above solutions work, try powering down the system and re-seating all of the connections inside to make sure there are no loose cables or connections.

Keep me posted!

Hello @SuperSoph_WD!
Yes, SATA controller is enabled and its mode selection is AHCI.
I have also tried to reset to default settings the bios through UEFI and through CMOS itself.
I don't think the problem is in the SSD or HDD because they are both new and I can't be so unlucky lol. But I will try to connect them to my laptop. Anyway please take a look at thr ingur link: in the main page of UEFI under "SATA information" there is nothing, not even how many ports there are. Could it be a SATA controller problem?

Have you tried booting from the Legacy BIOS mode, instead of the UEFI BIOS?
