So I currently have a P5N32-E SLI motherboard which broke last night. After taking it into the store I was told that I could either buy a similar/same motherboard and keep everything on my computer or get a new one and wipe it all.
I opted to keep my files etc.
Since my current/ex motherboard is very old and hard to acquire, how would I determine which motherboards are 'similar' and would enable me to upgrade but still keep all my files.
Any reply would help,
thanks

I'll be buying a new processor as the one in my PC right now is about 4-5 years old. I recently got a gtx 970 which I havent installed yet which will go along with my processor.
As for the specs I can remember off the top of my head, 64 bit, Windows 10, 8gb ram cant really remember the rest.
I had my computer open on my desktop as I was doing some homework when it shut down. I tried resetting the power and called my local PC shop and had some help there, so I took it into the shop the next morning.
