Title basically describes my problem. It has only happened about 3 times in the past 3 months, but I'm not sure why. If I can figure out why it's happening, then I can decide if its time to replace it.

When the drive crashes, it usually causes my entire computer to restart. I have this drive set as my D: drive, but almost all of my programs are on it, as well as all User accounts' file locations. When the computer boots back up, I log in to my user, but then it gives me an error saying that the Desktop (D:/Users/User/Desktop) cannot be found. When I do a manual reboot, it's always back.

As I mentioned, SMART test came back as healthy, so I'm not sure where the problem lies.

Hi there ucrbuffalo,

So you have two physical drives right?

If this is the case, then I believe you can attach your D: drive with different cables to another port.

Even though the SMART data showed that the drive is in a healthy state, I believe it would be nice to provide a screenshot of it. Just upload the screen to an image hosting website and post the link.

it might not be an issue with the hard drive but with the motherboard/power supply as well. If there is any kind of connection / power loss and your entire user profile is on another drive except the C drive it can cause it to crash. Also is anything shown in the Even logs as to why it is crashing? any blue screens?
