Could anyone please explain it to me what does single ranked ram sticks change and what doesn't ? Can you put 2 of them as a dual channel kit ?
I found some affordable Crucial sticks of ddr4 2133mhz 8gb ram and they are titled to be "Single Ranked", i was wondering if i could get one for the moment and upgrade to 2 of them in the near future for 16.

That refers to the board's physical layout, I believe. So you should see chips only on one side of the memory module.

In some motherboards you will require something like 3 double ranked modules and 1 single ranked module to get the absolute maximum capacity.

I don't think this matters as much as it used to.

Most motherboards support dual channel in several configurations. Obviously the most common being two identical sticks in alternating slots (usually)

You can also achieve dual channel mode with something like a pair of 4GB sticks and a single 8GB stick in the first alternate slot. See your motherboard manual for specifics on this.

Mixing memory doesn't always work though, even from the same brand/model. Buying matched sets is...
