Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K Skylake CPU 3.5 - 3.9GHz, Wanting to try and overclock to around 4.2/4.3

Graphics Card: Palit GeForce GTX 1080 GameRock Premium Edition

Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA Case - Black/Silver

Extra Case Fans: 2x Noiseblocker ITR-B12-PS

CPU Cooler: be quiet! BK020 Dark Rock TF CPU Cooler with Dual Silent Wings 135mm Fans

Thermal Paste: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver

Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 S

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz - White

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB

Hard Drive: Toshiba 3TB SATA III 3.5"

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova P2 850 W Platinum PSU or EVGA Supernova 1000W P2 Modular Platinum PSU to future proof it a bit.

In the future I would like to run SLI 1080 overclocked for 4k and VR which is why I was looking at the bigger PSU seeing as there is a $20 price difference.

Any advice? Or is this an ok build?

What's your budget and country of origin?

Also I would stick with air over liquid, and I would not buy thermal compound or spend a ton of money on case fans - you don't need these things.

Few words also.

Went with a MSI MoBo and GPU for a matching set at cheaper price.
Changed the SSD from 2.5" drive to M.2 drive for much faster read/write speeds and smaller dimension.
Picked the same case but with black/red color to match the MoBo and GPU theme.
PSU comes directly from OEM and thus is little cheaper than EVGA (who has to buy PSU from OEM, rebrand it and then sell it).
Changed the case fans for higer air flow fans and quieter operation (also PWM). 3rd case fan is for the CPU cooler to upgrade it from push system to push-pull system.
Also changed the thermal paste to a non-conductive one to avoid static discharges.

So the Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver paste is no good then? I was told it was one of the best on the market right now?

I'm definitely looking into the PSU change and the secondary build so thank you :D

Ok im going to change the paste to Prolimatech PK-3 Nano Aluminium Thermal Paste. While also changing out the cooler to Cryorig H7

Im also changing the case fans out for Corsair SP120 RGB LED High Performance 120mm PWM Fan (Pack of 3) with Controller

Are these ok changes?

Right so my corrected build is this:

Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K Skylake CPU 3.5 - 3.9GHz, Wanting to try and overclock to around 4.2/4.3 maybe more not sure yet

Graphics Card: Palit GeForce GTX 1080 GameRock Premium Edition

Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA Case - Black/Silver

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2

Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 S

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz - White

SSD: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2

Hard Drive: WD Blue 2TB SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 1000W P2 Modular Platinum PSU.

I've changed the CPU cooler, extra fans, taken the paste off due to pre-pasted cooler and changed the Toshiba hard drive.

Decided I would go with closed-loop cooling instead of air after having a look let me know what you think?

Is there any other improvements anyone can see I could make without putting the price up anymore?

So, i again composed a pcpp list with your currently selected parts,
pcpp: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/tQcNpb

I reccommend that you swap out HDD with Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3TB.
pcpp: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/Cs4gXL/hitachi-internal-hard-drive-hua723030ala640

With little extra cost you'll get 1TB more space and Hitachi HDD also runs at 7200 RPM compared to the 5400 RPM of WD HDD.

As far as CPU cooling goes, here's the ultimate showdown between Noctua NH-D15 and 5 high end AIO water coolers,
link: http://www.relaxedtech.com/reviews/noctua/nh-d15-versus-closed-loop-liquid-coolers/1

Noctua NH-D15 does fit into your case though. It may not be the prettiest CPU cooler out there but it get's the job done very well.

To me, it seems that aesthetics to you is more importnant than actual performance or price. If so, then take a look at Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W PSU (80+ Platinum, fully modular, Tier one, color theme: white).
specs: https://seasonic.com/product/snow-silent-1050/
pcpp: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/xdCrxr/seasonic-power-supply-snowsilent1050

It does cost more than your EVGA but it fits perfectly with the white theme you're going with.

But when to be honest, you'll do just fine with 750W PSU in your OC build. E.g Seasonic Snow Silent 750W (80+ Platinum).
specs: https://seasonic.com/product/snow-silent-750/
pcpp: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/LgJkcf/seasonic-power-supply-ss750xp2s

Still, a cheaper build with the white Seasonic 1050W PSU.

Few words.
Went with cheaper MoBo while keeping the white theme.
Also put in cheaper GPU that has white LEDs to match your theme.
Switched out HDD to Hitachi.
And lastly, went with a white 1050W PSU from Seasonic.

I've now changed the SSD to the Samsung 950 PRO 256GB as the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive still runs on SATA meaning it would be any faster just would mean no wires to worry about but I do want a good speed so went with the pro.

Removed the paste and the case fans too.

Didn't mean to mark that as answered :( my phones messing around going over that build now and the look it not the most important to me but I am trying to get a balance between look and performance.

I never recommend anyone spend tons of money on accessories. If you have to stick with a budget spending $50 on case fans or $10 on thermal compound can put you way over your budget.

As far as CPU cooling goes, here's the ultimate showdown between Noctua NH-D15 and 5 high end AIO water coolers,
link: http://www.relaxedtech.com/reviews/noctua/nh-d15-versus...

In that article the Noctua D15 and the Kraken X61 were about on par with each other. But the conclusion was that the noise levels weren't any different, while the Noctua was $40 cheaper than the Kraken. I personally would stick with air cooling.

1,000 watt PSU? Way too much overkill

Especially when you take into effect that the 1080 is the most energy efficient GPU that NVIDIA has ever produced and only outputs 180W, and also NVIDIA has eliminated the possibility of 3-way SLI. Which means that there's no need for a 1KW PSU under any circumstance, and that 850W is all you need for SLI on Pascal.

Right so my finished build turned out to be this:

Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K Skylake CPU Overclocked to 4.3GHz running at 45-46C under heavy load

Graphics Card: Palit GeForce GTX 1080 GameRock Premium Edition havent overclocked yet still at base overclock 1885 MHz running at 69C

Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-ALPHA Case - Black/Silver

Extra Case Fans: 3x Corsair ML Series ML120

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2

Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 S

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 3300 MHz - White

SSD: Samsung 950 m.2 pro

Hard Drive: WD Black 2tb

Had to do a bit of DIY and used cable ties to put 2 of the fans on :D:D
Its come together perfectly and came in at around £1800-$ 2185.28.
22 seconds to boot from power button to home screen.

Thank you for all the help guys :D Very happy with how its turned out.
