Ide HDD(OS) and SATA HDD (all imp. Data, xtra space)
+ Also 2 DVD RW on secondary ide (the OS ide HDD is only one on primary ide)
***

Noticed post on forum. I too have 2 DVD drives on secondary ide, 1 HDD on primary ide(which has my OS) (and only OS available) and I got a 32o gb HDD on SATA i'v used as extra storage. I've actually ran pc like this for prob 1+yr..

My DVD drives have never worked, but the way I've hooked it all up, explained in above paragraph , is how I've been able to use my pc and that other drive for music dls ect. So when I tried to put new dvd ROM in, and new ide cable, no change jumpers ect, my pc will boot all way to Windows XP screen then go black. I've waited like 3 hrs, still black. Just out of luck . So after checking connections ect, I just pulled my SATA out of Mobo, tried reboot, and no probs, loaded desktop, and even boot faster but DVD ROM still doesn't work tho. all my data and music is all on my SATA HDD. so pointless without it......I'm so lost that 'alls hope is gone'

I'm not IT, nor experienced, I've done everything by learning as I go, any help, and any help ASAP!! is highly appreciated,
Thnx

Welcome to the community, @loganhillman1!

I'd recommend you try the DVD ROM in another PC, if you have access to one. It would also be really helpful if you share more details about your system configuration (PC Specs). You could also try swapping the cables connecting the DVD ROMs, since you mentioned that there are two of them. You mentioned that your PC boots fine without your storage HDD, but when you connect it together with the DVD ROMs you are unable to boot into Windows, is that so?
I'd recommend unplugging the CD ROMs from the motherboard and try booting with only your OS drive & your storage drive.

Let me know how it goes & if you have any more questions regarding the troubleshooting steps.
I will try my best to explain...

I will try my best to explain them as clearly as possible or through online tutorials.

Good luck!
