I have 8 gb of RAM currently but I'd like to get more later.
Also I just play GTA5 and have RX 460 gpu.
My CPU is i5 4460, and I have 1 SSD with 1 HDD.
I don't know much about computers. I'm looking for a full sized motherboard for around $50 with USB 3 ports and integrated video just in case my GPU fails. I think that's all I need, right?
I have no plans to SLI or Crossfire etc.
And I'd like to avoid Gigabyte because that's what I just shorted out today and another gigabyte I shorted out ten years ago.

Solution
Hi, you should go with a 1150 mobo for your CPU, just get the cheapest H81 chipset mobo. Take in consideration that those mobos has only 2 RAM slots.
I would go with a cheap ASUS like this one: H81M-K.

https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Micro-DDR3-Motherboards-H81M-K/dp/B00GUD1ER4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1476280258&sr=8-7&keywords=h81

There are other models in the link with same chipset and similar price.

Make sure it comes with the 0703 bios version to use your CPU.

Just checked and it does not come with USB 3.0 headers, only in the mobo IO.

Thanks but I'd like to avoid micro ATX because my hands are too big to plug anything in. especially with the huge heatsink and gpu.
If I bought a 1151, wouldn't that leave a way for future upgrade of CPU's?

Your CPU can't be put on the 1151 socket motherboards, you will need 1150. Or buy a new cpu with your 1151 board.

I thought my CPU is compatible with 1151 because of an advice I receive when I was asking for which CPU to upgrade to:

I didn't end up getting the G4400, but I got the 4460. Is that why?
Can you recommend a 1150 board that fits my needs?
Thank you.

At that price point it is very difficult to get an atx motherboard. Perhaps B85 or H87/97 boards come in atx, but at a higher price.
Why should it be more difficult to install? Are you using all the pci-e ports?

I was not aware bigger board are more expensive.
I'm not using any pci e ports, but I have a mid tower case and I'm just used to having a big mobo.
The one I shorted out yesterday is a micro atx, and I had hard time plugging in the system fan, cpu fan, tiny power switch connectors, etc. And it's so cramped in the corner while the case is huge.
THe one I shorted out is GIgabyte h81m ds2v. I got it for $30 used. I'm afraid to get the same one because it might short out again.

I was looking a bit and there are some atx h81, but i cannot find the prices in some stores:
Msi h81-p33 and h81-p35 are atx boards.
Asrock h81 pro-G and h81 pro BTC boards.

The only prices I found are way expensive than some z97 boards.

The Asrock h81 pro BTC is the model name. Z97 board is a motherboard with that chipset, which is the top-of-the-line chipset for 4th and 5th gen Core I processors, which allow overclocking, etc.

The models that you are saying are simple boards but they can run your CPU without any issues. The only thing is that they are all micro ATX, so they are small boards.
All of them should be around your price point.

I purchased the Asus H81M-K.
I will have to deal with the tiny board since I want to save money.
Thank you.
