In the past few days, my games have taken a stark dip in FPS, regardless of quality chosen. League of legends formerly ran comfortably at 60 frames but is now at a measly 30, and more demanding games such as Overwatch, which I was securing 40-50 FPS on previously is now unplayably struggling at closer to 3 FPS. 10 if I'm lucky.
What I have already attempted:
-Complete scan using Malwarebytes, no threats were detected
-Uninstalled and reinstalled Nvidia graphics drivers for the GTX 850M (twice, both times using clean install)
-Checked to see if my CPU was throttling (it wasn't. I used
-Given my notebook a decent dust clean. I don't currently have any compressed air to use but did what I could without damaging anything.
-Defragmented my Hard Drive
Additionally, the only thing I had done on the notebook that I noticed occuring between the last time I had played games smoothly and this issue occuring was installing Avira Antivirus. I have since removed the program in case it was somehow involved in the issue, but no improvement has occured.
Prior to this occuring, I was suffering a long term issue where my computer's Intel graphics driver would repeatedly crash briefly after logging in after startup, which would cease for the entirety of my use session by simply disabling and reenabling the driver for the Intel graphics. I was unable to identify its cause but decided that since it wasn't debillitating to my use, I could get by. This issue happened to stop around the same time that my current issue began.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 14 7447 Notebook
Running Windows 10
i7-4710HQ,
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 and GeForce GTX 850M
8GB RAM
List of games I have tested (framerates are approximate):
-League of Legends: formerly 60, now 30
-Overwatch: formerly 45, now 5
-Fallout 4 (unmodded): Formerly 30, now 2-3
-TF2: Formerly 60, now 10
Unsure if this is relevant or not, but TF2 and Fallout 4's framerate issues also caused audio stutter for sound effects (not in game music) whilst League and Overwatch seem to have smooth sound still.
Any suggestions are welcome as I am at a loss on what to do save performing a complete system restore, and I would prefer not to have to resort to that if possible. Australian internet makes redownloading all those games a severe pain and a big drain on my net quota.
