So i recently built my new gaming desktop which cost around 1800$. My parts are Intel-core i7 6700k 4.0 GHz overclocked to 4.4 GHz, nvidea geforce GTX 980ti, NZXT Kraken X61 CPU cooler (set to performance mode when i play and when i am idle or just doing something online it is on silent), NZXT h440 case with 4 stock NZXT case fans, 512 GB solid state disk, 3 TB hard drive, Msi Z170A Krait Gaming 3x Motherboard, and 32 GB of ram in 2 sticks. I use obs to record but when i record gmod ultra setting 1080p and constant 100+ and on the server i was playing on 200+ fps at 1080p 60 fps lanczos downscale filter it starts to lag and become choppy. On obs i went from 1080p to 720p and that worked and i went from 60 fps to 30 fps at 1080p and that also worked but for a high end computer liek i have i should be able to record, not even stream, at 1080p 60 fps. Can someone please help me?

I believe OBS is pretty taxing on your CPU. Without hardware acceleration, transcoding 1080p@60 fps is going to strain any CPU. Can you check CPU usage to see if it's maxing?

Alternately, a lot of people seem to be using Nvidia Shadowplay with Nvidia cards. It's hardware assisted so won't hit the CPU as much.

The thing is I want to use obs because i will be recording and live streaming and obs is the most used recording and live streaming software and a lot of streamers and youtubers use obs so i just feel the need to use it. i have tried using shadow play and i know why a lot of nvidea users use it, it is because it takes all of the strain from you CPU and puts it on the GPU so it is good to use with an nvidea card but i just don't feel like using it.. Also what do you mean by check my CPU usage to see if it is maxing, you mean the load while playing gmod and recording? And don't forget, Intel-core i7 6700k 4.0 GHz overclocked to 4.4 GHz so my CPU is good, and it has a water cooler.
