HELP with wifi extender

How to configure a wifi extender so that your devices recognise both as a single connection? For example my phone would disconnect from my router and connect to the wifi extender as if it was a different wifi

Your phone will connect to the AP with the strongest signal. For example if your router is upstairs, your would mostly connect tothe router. If your extender is downstairs, your phone will connect to the extender. There is nothing wrong with your configuration.
