Too little ram for a ramdisk on Windows 10

I'm trying to create a 3GB Diskram drive using my ram(8GB) but at least in Windows 10 I always end up running out of memory.

What I'm curious about is that Windows 10 64 bits runson 2GB minimum, so why am I running out of RAM if I have 8GB and am trying to runa 3GB Ramdisk drive which in theory leaves my system with 3GB to spare??

Solution

8GB is really too small to section off 3GB of it for a RAMDisk.

That 3GB is totally walled off, leaving the rest of the system with 5GB max. The OS + all your other applications might be bumping up against that 5GB.

2GB for the OS is the minimum it will run on.
