Hi all,
So I have had this message come up a bunch of time now.
My harddrive hasn't been able to load up on my computer for months. it recently loaded and I ws briefly able to access it before it stopped working again. now when I try to get onto it it comes up with the message "request failed due to fatal device hardware error"
I downloaded WD data Lifeguard to scan my drive.
the quick scan reached a final 10% then stopped moving.
the extended test "stopped due to too many errors" after roughly 2 seconds.

any ideas on how I can retrieve all my files off my hard drive ?

Thanks in Advance

Hey, @thehellisthis!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with this WD HDD of yours! :( I assume it's an external drive, right? Have you tried accessing it using a different USB cable and a different USB port on your computer? I'd advise you to do so and also try plugging it in another computer, if you have access to one. However, these test results are pretty concerning and they most probably indicate hardware failure on your WD drive. Your best bet on getting your files back would be a professional data recovery company. You can check some of our worldwide partners on the official website here. Any data retrieving attempts by yourself could possibly do more harm than good, especially when you are dealing with physical corruption on the drive. I'd also recommend you check your warranty. If the HDD is still covered, you should definitely get in touch with our Customer Support and send an RMA request to get a replacement.

Let me know if you have more questions! I hope I was helpful.
