GTX 1070 options I am considering, please help with thoughts?!

Hi guys,


I created an excel spreadsheet for all the GTX 1070's available from stores in South Africa.
You will see the first column is price in Rands, the second is the base clock, third is the boost clock.

Then I created a percentage of the base and boost clocks compared to the price and lastly the average of the two percentages.

Also I marked them in green, yellow and red from good to bad.
You will also see based on what I found that I have marked some in blue that I am interested in.

I would like to know if you agree with my findings and if not, what would you rather recommend.

I understand that some cards can boost past the published boost clock.
If you have suggestions based on this, it would be much appreciated, I am not sure what the additional boost are so I did not factor this into my equation.

you can manually set the core to match the "OC" version of the card for free, with either msi afterburner, zotac's own firestorm, or Precision X

amazon people are... , do not use them as a guide post


the zotac amp extreme is EASILY in the top three best 1070's



the gigabyte G1 is super sick as well, just looks great...

the difference in core speed between them is not relevant, all the cards with a decent cooler will basically boost the same

go with the cheapest with the best fan solution that you like the look of


zotac amp is the easy choice

dont pay for something you can do yourself

Hi, thank you for the reply, what do you mean with "something you can do yourself"
I was also thinking of the Zotac Amp Extreme, but I went to the comments on Amazon and it seems that there are quite a few people that are not that happy with the Zotac.

Otherwise I was also thinking of the Gigabyte Extreme Gaming, I know Gigabyte is a good brand and I currently have their GTX 950 in my system.

Thanks for all the help maxalge,

I love both the Zotac and the G1, they look amazing and there cooling is very good.
The only problem might be with sag as I know especially the Zotac is quite heavy and my MSI Tomahawk does not have PCi enforcement.

Can it really cause that much damage and break the mobo?
