I recently had to replace my GPU after it died and XFX issued an RMA and were great through the entire process. However the card that died is no longer in production and I am receiving something newer. This was my 1st build and I had a lot of help with it so I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff but I'm learning.

I'm just looking for some insight on if the replacement is as good or better then what I had.

Original
XFX Radeon R9 270X DirectX 11.2 R9-270X-CDBC 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Replacement
XFX Radeon RX 460 DirectX 12 RX-460P4DFG5 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, there's a lot more behind the GPU than the numbers indicate. The best way to determine performance is to look for reviews and benchmarks from a reputable source.

You can see that in some games the 460 is better, in others the 270x is better. I call it equal with the edge to the 460 given how much better it performs in DX12 which will be of much greater benefit going forward for new releases.

Thanks timeconsumer

I wasn't sure since the R9 270 was 256 bit w/ 1280 Stream Processors and the RX 460 is 128 Bit w/ 896 Stream Processors.

I'm still not entirely sure how those work or what they do which prompted to ask here.

Thanks for the link! it was definitely an informing review and it will be interesting to see how it handles FFXIV since that is my primary game and it tested lower then my old R9 270x on DX11 games.
