I think my asus gtx 970 strix is broken

The problem is that when i'm playing any game my fps suddenly drops from over 100 to 3-21 I have the latest drivers. I think it's because of the cooling when I go to gpu tweak it shows that the temp is 60C and when I lift the physical gpu the temp rises to 70-80C and then the fans start running. Should I get it fixed or what should I do? My pc: i5-4690k, kingston hyperx fury 2x4gb, aftermarket cooler, tx 550w 80 bronze, asus z97-A

Fans are running but when I lift it, the fans start running faster . I think the temp sensor or something is broken.
