Gaming crashes my computer.

I recently have been experiencing complete computer shutdown when playing games.

I am able to start the game and navigate the menu but whenever I try to load an actual game session my computer shuts down then attempts to restart but never fully makes it and I have to restart it with the power button in order for it to boot up fully. This happens with every game I play no matter what the performance requirements. I can't even load something as simple as counter strike.

specs:

asus z170a mobo
intel i5-6500 with cryorig c7 cooler
msi gtx 970
16gb ddr4 ram
evga 500B psu
140gb pny ssd
3tb wd hard drive

Absolutely nothing is overclocked.

I've had my computer crash like this multiple times before but it would go away after about 1 or 2 crashes and the thing would run smoothly.
WhoCrashed doesn't pick up any problems with software and all drivers have been updated.

I have triple checked all connections on the components cleaned out the filter for my psu fan and still no difference. I even switched out my power cord since the old one was a bit loose. Still nothing

Solution
You must return it for money if possible, and get a different PSU. Or if they won't give you a refund, get a replacement, and sell that replacement and buy a different PSU.

The GPU is revving up and asking for power, at which point the PSU fails.

Evga 500b bronze psu puts out 500 watts, should be good as i calculated my components to only pull about 350 watts. currently don't have access to a more powerful psu.

Bronze puts out about 80% of stated Watts. So 500W * .80 = 400W in perfect scenarios. Plus PSUs go bad over time.

What? That is wrong and the article you link clearly states this is incorrect. A 500w bronze 80% in perfect conditions should put out 500w but will take 600w from the mains.

The 500B is a medium quality unit, just sounds like it has a fault.

You're correct. PSU is failing tho.

So should I replace my current one with the same psu? I've only had it for 2 months and it worked fine up until now so I assume I got one of the bad ones out of the factory. Or should I get a whole new one with more wattage?

By the way, I just ran an experiment in starting a game and watching my gpu and I found that the moment it revs up is when my computer crashes. GPU failing or could it still be the psu?
