I have just brought a asus 980ti matrix, I've had it installed for 2 days and has been fine. Just gone to play BF4 for the 1st time and pc crashed 30 secs in, now monitors show no signal when pc is on.

Pc specs

Phenom 2 4300 6 cores
Corsair liquid cooling
Asus formula 4 motherboard
16gb ram corsair ram
256gb vortex ssd
750w corsair Psu
Windows 10 64bit

I have just upgraded from a Radeon hd5850 getting ready for BF1. Installed the 980ti with the latest drivers (removed old drivers 1st) and had it running for a couple of days with no problems however with very little stress on it. Tonight I decided to see what this card could do so loaded BF4 and put is on high settings. It ran fine for all of 30 seconds the screen went black and pc tripped. Turned it all off, left it for a few seconds, turned it back on and no signal in any monitors.

I've left it for half an hour, tried again with still no signal from any outputs

When I put my old graphics card back in boots up 1st time. Put new card in again and no signal

Is the card screwed and any ideas what could have caused it

I have put 2 x 8 pin pci power surpluses in from separate feeds as well as a single 4 pin connector in the back. I assume it's meant to have 3 power supplies to it

Could be dead card, maybe the power supply is not good enough to run it or has issues, which can cause the card to get damaged.

That card has two 8 pin power connectors, that last connector you used, should not have been used. Read the manual, don't assume you need 3 power plugs. https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?59154-Molex-connector-on-Matrix

There looks to be a safe mode switch on that card, try that.

Solution
don't forget 900 series cards been known to do this with there ports failing ,, gigabyte was the worse for this

2ed -- windows 10 and all its issues NVidia has struggled with drivers and 10 from the get go and then 10 overriding your needs as it [Microsoft] sees fit

this is something I don't get '' put 2 x 8 pin pci power surpluses in from separate feeds as well as a single 4 pin connector in the back''

in the back of the card ??? ok I see now what that is for

''•Molex power connector for the memory defroster (not needed for normal operation). When using liquid nitrogen, the back of the card will freeze with ice due to condensation, which can short circuits and result in cold bugs. The memory heater is activated by connecting a solder bridge and wiring a button to the corresponding XJ16 pins. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_980_Ti_Matrix/4.html

anyway I would look at 10 issues in how it can override your drivers and install what ever it wants to and then in to the ports not working on any 900 cards
