This is about an Medion Akoya P5338i, a tower Computer.

The computer is brand new, bought yesterday.

There are no issues with performance as far as I can tell, but there is a weird clicking sound coming from inside the tower. It always comes twice to four times in a row every five to thirty seconds.

It does not sound like your typical HDD failing sound. It actually sounds very much like the clicking sound of a mouse.

Before the clicking, the HDD makes a subtle sound of spinning, which leads me to believe that it is in fact the HDD having some problems.

I searched for anyone else having this issue but to no avail. It's a quiet sound, subtle, but comes very often.

So is this normal? Should I worry?

Welcome to the community, @Ria_58!

I'd advise you to backup any important data from the tower somewhere off-site if you already had files stored there. Clicking noises are never a good sign! :( It's possible that the WD blue might be making these sounds due to improper mounting inside the PC case, but since it's brand new I'd definitely not advise you to tamper with it physically. Instead, I'd strongly recommend running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows. The utility will help us determine what is the health and SMART status of your WD Blue HDD. However, clicking noises are usually a sign of physical damage on a hard drive, so it's possible that the tool might not detect anything...

Either way, it's probably best you get the tower back to the reseller and ask them to do full diagnostics & replace the HDD, if it's needed.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you have more questions!
