Hi all

So I've got a curious problem with a client's PC, all of a sudden the DNS has changed from 192.168.0.2 (The server) to 192.168.0.1 (the router/access point)
The clients all use DHCP for IP allocation, but have the DNS set manually as 192.168.0.2 and 4.2.2.2
So on this particular PC, it won't log onto the domain, only the local account
I can't login to the local administrator account because it's disabled.
Can anyone suggest a workaround? or will I have to activate the local admin account using the Windows 7 dvd to repair the dns settings?

The curiou thing is, under the system panel, it says
Domain: xt.local

But under network and sharing, it doesn't have the domain in the active networks.
Whereas the other PC's do (xt.local - doman network)

Solution
With an incorrect manual DNS server configured, a PC won't be able to join a domain, and unless the user is a local administrator, they won't have permission to reactivate local accounts or change the NIC configuration.

Perhaps the user changed the DNS server so they can use the laptop on their home network? 192.168.0.1 is a very common IP address for home routers, which function as DNS servers.

If the user is a local administrator, then simply change the DNS server. Otherwise, boot into safe mode and change it from there. If the domain administrator has a local account on the laptop, then use that to change the DNS server.
