8320 FX
PNY 480 GB SSD
8GB Corsair Vengeance

All USB drivers up to date per ASRock downlaods

I'm getting max 33 MB/s transfer speed on a capable USB drive. This goes back and froth from 33 MB/s to 22 MB/s during transfer.

On my brother's computer, I get 80+ MB/s on same transfers. He has an HDD.

EDIT: I am indeed using blue/ss/3.0 ports directly on the back of the mobo. I have blue/ss/3.0 ports on the front, but I don't trust those to be sure they are 3.0 so I moved to the back to be sure.

blue and on the back, updated post with edit to clear up confusion

Ah, I see.
I was on an older instance of the thread when I was typing it out! :)
What are your brothers specs?
He might have USB 3.1, that enables higher sequential reads and writes with about 150% of the speed.
In addition, AsRock motherboards aren't exactly the highest in terms of quality, so the transfer rates might be a little lower.
Are these transfer speeds with the same file?
Is it compressed?
How much RAM does your brother have? 16GB?

Are the speeds on your brothers PC using the same device? A lot of USB 3 flash drives get nowhere near the speeds the port is capable of.

There is a lot of variation in the quality of flash drives, I have one that can manage 70MB/s and a couple of 2.5" external drives that can break 100MB/s but I also have 3 other USB 3 drives that all manage between 25-40MB/s on average.

The drive is the same. PNY 3.0 128GB. His specs are . . . worse. Whatever they are. Some prebuilt desktop from Compaq with an A6 or A8 APU in it. Stock RAM so whatever HP/ Compaq puts in them, HDD, etc. Both windows 10.

Same file transfers. Always outperforms my PC. It is 2 hours away or I would have better troubleshooting options. I tried disabling safe eject so that I would be forced to use the eject button for better performance. Same transfer speed there. Something is limiting the transfer speed on my end, but I can't figure out what it is if it isn't driver related.
